What to do before, during and after a scan to get a result you can trust.
Take a photo CropCare can read
- Photograph one leaf that clearly shows the problem, not the whole plant.
- Use daylight. Shade is better than harsh midday sun, and don't use flash.
- Hold the phone steady, 15 to 30 cm away, and let it focus.
- Fill most of the picture with the leaf. Plain ground behind it helps.
- If a result looks wrong, take a second photo of a different affected leaf.
Read your result
- The disease name is the most likely match, not a certainty.
- Check that the description matches what you see on the plant.
- Look at both the organic and chemical options before you buy anything.
- If the problem spreads fast, confirm with an extension officer or agrovet.
Before you spray
- Read the product label and follow its dose and waiting period.
- Wear gloves and cover your mouth and nose.
- Don't spray in wind or just before rain.
- Keep chemicals away from children, animals and water sources.
Stop it spreading
- Remove and destroy badly infected leaves or plants. Don't compost them.
- Clean tools after working on sick plants.
- Rotate crops so the same disease doesn't build up in the soil.
- Use certified seed and resistant varieties where you can.
- Scan again after treatment to see whether it's working.
